Advanced Placement/College Program
As part of our college preparatory initiative, Benjamin Banneker Academy for Community Development is proud to offer Advanced Placement courses in the following disciplines:
All Advanced Placement courses are rigorous and can lead to college credits depending on the exam score in May. Students must make a strong commitment to accept a workload requiring intensive reading and writing. There is a large time commitment as well. Students must show excellent work ethic with an academic history of handing in homework and projects on time as well as excellent attendance.
Once a student is accepted into a class, s/he may not withdraw from the class without first undergoing a review by a committee comprised of the Principal, Assistant Principal, Guidance Counselor and teacher.
The College Board charges students for each examination. Initial payment of $18 no later than October 18th, 2017. All remaining fees are due by February 28th, 2018. Students are responsible for satisfying all examination fees paid by Money Order to Benjamin Banneker Academy for Community Development. Students who meet federal guidelines to qualify for free or reduced cost lunch may be entitled to a reduced fee of $30 per exam.
For questions about AP examination registration, see Ms. Thomas. For questions regarding AP eligibility see your guidance counselor.
