Attendance Policy: Attendance is compulsory in all classes. A note signed by the student’s parent or guardian explaining an absence must be presented to the student’s teachers and the Attendance Office(Ms Thomas) on the day they return to school. In the case of a medical excuse the student must provide a legitimate Doctor’s note. If the student is participating in a school authorized activity it must be previously excused in writing.
Absences for all other reasons are unexcused and shall be treated as truancy. Every 3 absences from school will result in an automatic generation of an attendance letter that will be mailed home. Chronic attendance issues will be reported to the Administration for Children Services.
Students are expected to arrive at school and to all classes on time.
If a student needs to leave the building before the end of the day, they must be signed out by an adult 21 years or older who is authorized on their Emergency Contact Card (blue card). Parents/Guardians will not be allowed to pick up their student without the presentation of valid picture identification. 11th and 12th grade students with flexible schedules and abbreviated programs and students scheduled for off-campus activities are the only exceptions to this rule.
